Hidden Gems

Thank you Facebook Marketplace for sponsoring this post. There’s something for everyone!

Ever since moving into our home back in 2016, I knew I always wanted something for this space and, honestly, I just couldn’t figure out what to put there. We tried picture frames, mirrors, etc. and I always still felt like something was missing. I remember mentioning to Joe that I wanted something sort of like a hutch, but skinnier and smaller. And the thought of having more furniture in our home didn’t appeal him. Haha, my thrifting habits were starting to catch up to him.

I have been searching at thrift stores and Facebook Marketplace for the right piece, and I finally found the perfect match. I swear Facebook Marketplace never fails me. I always find the perfect pieces for the right price! This lady posted this white hutch for $50 over a month ago, so when I messaged her, I was hesitant because I didn’t know if she would still have it. I was so happy when she responded to me within minutes! Haha! What’s even more of a funny coincidence is she happened to be our neighbor, literally living four doors down for us. It was almost like it was fate.

Throughout the years, and my love for finding hidden gems to call my own, I have found that we are replacing our entire home with treasures we find on Facebook Marketplace. I feel as if my house is so much cozier with secondhand items, almost as if we are adopting a piece that no longer felt loved where they were. It’s a great feeling having a one-of-a-kind piece in my home.

Facebook Marketplace makes it so convenient to get rid of items that no longer serve a purpose in our home, and it’s always been a great way to expand my image and creativity as well. Sometimes, I’ll find an armoire in need of some TLC, and I’ll bring it home for $20 because I know we could do something with it. Then, next thing you know, Joe’s in the garage sanding down the piece and cutting holes to add chicken wire. 🙂 I mean, I love that! Making something old brand new again! I seriously don’t think you could ever find me buying a furniture piece brand new again. Repurposing furniture and items that we can keep and gift has been so much fun and, for sure, one of my hobbies.
