Best products to use on your child when they are sick

fighting cold season with babies

*Thank you Mustela for partnering up with us on this post. As always, all opinions are my own.*

‘Tis the season for the flu. No seriously, it’s only October, and we have all already been sick at least once. I hate to label myself as that germ freak kind of a mom. I just can’t help trying to protect my kids from any flu bug, because it’s so miserable. Especially now that it’s gotten colder at nights, we need to bring out our thicker linen for our beds and cozier pajamas, too!

In my perfect little world, I would like to think the flu won’t hit our house. But, I know that it can’t really be prevented. Especially with Ethan in public school, and us always out and about running errands. We’re just bound to catch something again.

All year we are fine until September-October rolls around and I feel like our immune system wants to take a break on us, haha. Luckily, we are always prepared to fight any icky germs that welcome themselves into our home. I wanted to share with you guys some of our favorite Mustela products I have on hand to keep the kids feeling as comfortable as possible when the inevitable cold/flu comes creeping in.

In partnership with Mustela this year, I’ve had the privilege to try all of their products, and I seriously use ALL of their products. I love the gentleness that each product gives, the smell, and the purpose for each and every one of their products. You can visit their website to shop around.

Here are the few items we use to help ease discomfort caused by any nasty bug we might have at the moment:

  • Soothing chest rub– we put this on the kids’ chest and feet at night if we notice any a runny nose or a cough. It really helps to ease breathing discomfort and calm them down with purifying scents like pine and rosemary.
  • Cleansing wipes– the best part about these wipes is the pack is small enough to carry in your purse/diaper bag. Not only do they help with on-the-go messes, but they’re great for wiping down surfaces in any public places.
  • Hydra-Stick with Cold Cream– when cold season hits, I like to lock in moisture. This travel size stick can be used on babies’ lips and cheeks and is another great one for keeping them feeling relaxed.

  1. Last but not least, my nightly bedtime routine with Xander helps him sleep better at night, especially when he isn’t feeling well. Making sure to keep him as comfortable as can be.

I’m a huge advocate for healthy and natural baby/kid products, and that’s why I will always stand by Mustela. All of their products are dermatologically tested, hypoallergenic, eco-friendly and will never include any questionable ingredients such as parabens, phthalates, or phenoxyethanol. Whether used to address specific skin conditions such as dry spots or diaper rash, or simply to maintain your baby’s healthy skin, Mustela® products deliver clinically tested and proven results that you can see for yourself.
