Night time routine that helps baby sleep longer

*Thank you Mustela for partnering up with us on this post. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.*

I feel like bragging on how well behaved Xander is 90% of the time. I always tell Joe that he makes it so easy for me, I could have two more. Haha. Baby fever is so real! I mean I get that he is still a baby, and he just learned to crawl. So, I guess you can ask me again in a few months. But, in all seriousness, I feel so blessed to have such a well-behaved baby. I’m sure our daily routine has a lot to do with it, from feedings to bath times, to bedtime. We have this system down pat.

Right now, bath time is our favorite, and it’s mainly because sink baths are so fun and easy! I guess if you follow me on Instagram you’ll understand the underlying love I have for sink baths. But, it’s also because I have found a new love for Mustela bath products and the positive effects they have on my kids. Yes, Ethan and Millie use all the Mustela products as well. I mean, how often do you try out new products you find on the shelf and end up not being crazy about them?

Your life will seriously change once you have tried Mustela! They have four unique skin care lines formulated for a range of skin types including Normal, Dry, Eczema-Prone, and Very Sensitive skin. If you’re unsure about your baby’s skin type, check out this video!

Before Xander, I decided to switch the kid’s products because Millie would get these really weird dry spots on her arms. When I came across Mustela’s Dry Skin Line at Target, I was so intrigued by how soft it left her skin.

By the time Xander was born, I had stocked up on the Nourishing Lotion and the Newborn Foam Shampoo. I was honestly amazed once I started using it on Xander’s’ head. His cradle cap was so bad, and when I started using the product, it helped clear it up almost instantly. You can read about that, here.

Ever since then, we have religiously used these products for bath time, and I wanted to share with you all our bath time/ night time routine for a calmer baby. These are the few things that we do with Xander, and he almost always falls asleep right after.

Best bath products for your baby

  1. Prepare clothes– Before you put your baby in the bath, make sure their clothes are set out, so they aren’t waiting for you to scramble something together after bath time.

  1. Prep the bath– I pour a cap full of the Mustela Bath Oil into the water first. I’ve found that it really helps to protect their skin from being dried out during bath time. It leaves their skin supple and soft. Plus, it smells good.

  1. Cleanse – Next, I use the Nourishing Cleansing Gel on their hair and skin. I love that it contains Cold Cream for an instant moisture boost!

  1. Give your child a gentle massage– After bath time, it’s always so soothing to give Xander a gentle rub while applying the Nourishing Lotion, which also has Cold Cream for babies with dry skin like mine. He loves this part, and most of the time he will stay still.

  1. Essential Oil sleep blend– My new thing is essential oils. I use them for everything! I have a 10ml roller bottle for bedtime, and it helps the kids sleep soundly. It contains:

* 5 Drops Lavender

* 20 drops Vetiver

* 15 drops Roman Chamomile

*20 drops Frankincense

*20 drops Bergamot

-Top it off with coconut oil.

Or you can add a few drops of each to your diffuser 🙂

  1. Soothing item– Whether it is a pacifier, nursing, bottle, blanket, etc. Once they find their comfort item, it usually signals it’s time for bed.

I also like to try to avoid any loud activities or TV after bath time. Trying to settle down the kids is always easiest in a quiet/calmer environment.
