I have had a few ladies ask me how I stay so productive throughout the day without wanting to pull my hair out. Some days are better than others, but I wanted to share with you all the one thing all my days have in common… I start them at 5 am. Call me crazy for waking up so early, but I promise you, you can be the most productive in the morning before your little ones wake up and I’m here to tell you how.
I don’t know about you, but waking up the minute my kids wake up puts me in a bad mood. Not only because they are going a million miles an hour, while I’m still trying to wake up. But I feel like my day is non-stop chaos, and I can’t keep my head on straight because of it. I need to start my mornings alone to have a positive, productive day. So here is my everyday morning routine.

  • 1.) My alarms set for 5 am every morning, and there is never a day where I need to press the snooze button. -If you’re trying to train yourself to wake up at 5 am, please don’t feel bad if you snooze your first week. It took me a while to get used to my early morning wake up call.
I sit in bed for only about 15 minutes after my alarm goes off. I go through my emails and social media sites before I get out of bed. So technically I start my day at 5:20 ish, but It helps get it out of the way before the kids are awake and before breakfasts served. It helps the urge of wanting to check my phone before all my morning tasks are finished, which checking my phone can keep me occupied for more than needed.

2.) The first thing I do when I get out of bed is turn on my coffee maker. Nothing satisfies a stay at home mother than drinking her coffee hot. I have a lot of moms say they always forget to drink their coffee and always have to reheat their coffee throughout the morning. Luckily for me, I don’t have this problem because my priority is to drink my coffee in peace while still hot. -One thing I have learned as a stay at home mom, you always want to start your day out with peace and calm. Silence is my therapy, and I always make time for silence in the morning.  I always enjoy a cup of coffee with a good 15-minute Bible read or catch up on any blog related stuff.

3.) As soon as I finish my coffee, I make sure to unload my dishwasher (My kitchen gets cleaned at night, and I run a load overnight. So any of today’s dirty dishes will be put in the dishwasher right away for the night’s load.

4.)Around 6:30 am when my husband and kids are usually waking up, I will have breakfast going and will be in the process of putting lunches together. Whether it’s a simple bowl of cereal, to an egg sandwich, I always make sure breakfast is ready, so we all have time to eat as a family before my husband goes to work.

5.) By the time the kids are done with breakfast, my husband has already left for work, so the kids will brush their teeth and change for the day while I load the dishwasher, and do a load of laundry- I always try to do one load of laundry a day. It makes life so much easier when I don’t procrastinate on this, because right before lunch all laundry is put away, and we always have empty laundry baskets.

6.) Around 7:30 am, my kids and I’s beds are made, we are dressed, and we are ready to take on the day. We normally have other lists of things we would be doing, but sometimes I don’t need to clean as much as other days.

I try to stay on routine throughout the week, so on the weekends I can lay in bed a little longer. I find that if I mess with one of my morning tasks, my whole day gets thrown off and my time can be a bit more chaotic than it should be. Slow mornings are the best morning, and I find that If I wanted to, I could take a nap with my kids during the day without having the guilt of being lazy since my mornings are so productive.

Is there a morning routine you like? Would love to hear all about it.

Thank you for this! I’ve been pondering starting my day earlier for those very reasons. You’ve inspired me to give it a shot!
